Out for a while.

Due to a tragic family occurrence, Tonegents has been dark for a couple of weeks and will be for a couple more. Don't worry though, I'll be back the second week of October. Gird your loins, bitches...

Got my first real six string/ Over at the पाँच और पैसा भी

Gotta get this one posted already, so I'll skip the perfunctory "joke above the picture"...

Ananda Shankar was a nephew of the uber-sitar dude Ravi Shankar... you know the guy who played with the dude from that band... forget their name... the one that everyone thinks is so good? The boy band that got into drugs. You know the one. Anyhoo, Ananda followed his elder's footsteps, knowing that in the Sixties dudes liked to get fucked up and hear 'em some sitar... only he found someone better to jam with. Some cat named Jimi something. But despite that, his greatest reknown is for bringing the Funk to the Indian vibe in his solo work. "Dancing Drums" might be the money track, but this is record is all spicy vindaloo, baby...

Off to celebrate my grandma's 100th birthday this weekend. Pretty damn cool, eh? Namastay Ji...

It's worth WHAT?!?!?

Whaddaya say about a CD that I'm positive I picked up at a dollar parking lot sale (and probably sold back when I got rid of my CDs for the same amount or less) that now apparently goes for 125 bucks? Two words. "Fuck" and "Me"...

I'm not exactly sure why this Essa 3 album is such a big ticket item, though. It's a nice enough little Hippie-House disc on a defunct, local SF label called ZoeMagick... one of the dudes is the less well-known dude from Metro Area... um, but yeah, no idea. If anyone can enlighten me, that would be lovely. But I will say this... this is exactly the kind of shit I was jammin' to back in the day, so there's that...

Rave whistle! WOOTWOOT! Ha. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go bash my head off the corner of a table for getting rid of this disc...
