He got a Norwegian woody.

Yet another from the "I can't believe I've never blogged this guy" files. Wait a minute, that sounds a bit too much like a euphemism for "had butt sex with", doesn't it? Then again, I've never had butt sex with this guy either, not that I want too, not that there's anything wrong with that, so I guess... you know, I'm just gonna stop right here... MARRIAGE EQUALITY NOW!

Anyhoo, it's the Norwegian man of mystery Lindstrom, one half of the famous duo Lindstrom & Prins Thomas, in which he plays the part of Lindstrom. And he's just one of those guys where you just wanna pick up anything you see with his name on it on sight if you like the smoove grooves. Here's a tune with an amazing name...

Lindstrom - There's A Drink In My Bedroom And I Need A Hot Lady (ysi)

Some people say Nu Disco, some people say Balearic... I don't really know what the damn difference is. I just know I likes it...

Needless Sexual Innuendo

Hey you got time for a quickie?

Eduardo Castillo is an L.A. based producer/party-thrower and, um... that's all I know. Seems he's pretty new. But hey, he did this dope Balearic remix of Radiohead's "House Of Cards" and I like it quite a bit. Because I am a Radiohead WHORE...

Eduardo Castillo - Casaradio (ysi)

Ahhhhh... was it good for you? Because it was pretty good for me. Got a smoke?

House Music Fredag!

House Music Friday is back and never wack...

Once again for HMF we're going with some beardy, flannel-sporting Balearic hippie House from Norway, this time courtesy of Mr. Joachim Dyrdahl, aka Diskjokke. Like the name... like it a lot. Norwegian is a funny language to look at, huh? Actually that whole greater Scandinavia metro area seems like a pretty quirky place, doesn't it? I'll have to go check it out sometime and get my fjord on...

Diskjokke - Flott Flyt (ysi)

If all goes well, I hope to have a nice, House-related surprise for you on Monday. Wait with bated breath. I SAID BATED, DAMMIT!

Of Futebol and Flannel

Another amazing soccer game. A few more like that and people in the US might start giving a shit, ALTHOUGH I still don't think you're gonna get any spike in interest for MLS, because that shit is weak sauce. Which has nothing to do with music...

So your listening to some music that's House, but slower, and there's like guitars and shit. Now, take a good look at your DJ... If it's a beardy dude in flannel, you're probably listening to something Balearic. What's Balearic you say? It's like, to paraphrase that Winona Ryder line in Reality Bites... "I can't define it, but I know it when I hear it." Plus the dude who makes it is beardy and is wearing flannel. And hey, there's a reason I gave you a link to click on. Don't make me do all the work. Now, Prins Thomas is from Norway, so the whole beard/flannel combo serves the dual purpose of a) alerting us that this could be classified as the Balearic Sound and b) to keep his ass warm. It's fucking cold in Norway from what I gather. Anyhoo, get down to this crunchy groove...

Prins Thomas - Nattonsket (ysi)

And I will leave you with...

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!

We shall call him Bjeck!

Hey everybody! Well after a nice long break it's good to be back and I look forward to another exciting, death-defying, paradigm-shifting and ass-blasting year of the Tonegents Interwebs Musical Spot and Clambake. And what better way to start the year than with the song that was stuck in my head for the last two weeks of '09...

So this Bjorn Torske cat looks kinda like a creepy Nordic version of Beck, doesn't he? The kind of dude that would be like, "Hey little girl, come for a ride on my toboggan. I've got cannnnndyyyyy..." Or is it just me? Well, that aside, here's the best use of whistling in a House song since, well... "The Whistle Song"...

Bjorn Torske - Hatten Passer (ysi)

The whole record isn't all House, btw... actually dude is quite odd, as you'd expect from someone from the Nordic part of the world. I think it has something to do with the fjords. How odd is this dude? Well...

So yeah. 2010, folks... saddle up!

Obscure name droppin'

I may be a loser, but a least I know some cool people...

Woolfy is the band of my pal Simon James, a Scottish cat whose family runs the coolest pub in Canoga Park. But they don't just play there (although I'm sure they have). Their record got picked up by DFA and last time I ran into him he was about to embark on a European tour playing with The Juan McLean. So yeah, it's working out pretty well for ol' Simon, I must say. This is probably because it's really good shit... on that Cosmic/Balearic tip halfway between House and Rock. Some of them have vocals, but this one doesn't...

Woolfy - Loa The Disco (ysi)

Simon also has a project called Projections, more electronica-based, that put out a really fine record on Guidance a few years back. PLUS, there's the Woolfy vs. Projections record, in which his two personalities fight it out. Anyhoo, here's some video from that tour I was telling you about...

Looks like fun, touring... who wants me to come DJ in their city?!
