Colossal Blunder #1
Today, I present to you the best way to ruin a perfectly good band...
Back in the golden age of Trip-Hop, there was a certain pattern that emerged in the more popular groups of the era... hot girl with cool voice up front, nerdy, pasty knob-twiddlers in the back, and Bob's yer uncle. Sneaker Pimps, with their debut album Becoming X, followed that blueprint to a T, and what happened? One of the best and most popular albums of the genre, that's what. But then... sigh... but then the knob-twiddlers got all full of themselves... they didn't want tosell another album, ever be "pigeonholed" by the "formula", so they kicked singer Kelli Dayton to the curb... and kept on making albums without her that were united in the fact that no one gave two shits about any of them. So let me restate this... do NOT kick the hot singer girl out of your band! Nobody cares about you, pasty guys! Get over yourselves and go play with your plug-ins some more! Same thing happened to Morcheeba after they booted Skye Edwards... did you know they're still making records? Exactly. Game, Set and Match to me...
Supposedly Kelli is making some kind of Folk music right now... ack. But it'll still be more interesting than the new Sneaker Pimps. Wanna bet me?

Stumbled across your blog via another blog. Haven't had such a good laugh in a while. Thanks for the running commentary. And, gotta say, you are spot on! Look forward to more...
I must agree with your opinion of the death of a great trip hop band :( Female vocalists always make the band!
